Job Description How does it feel to work on a team driven to
make a big impact? Empowering.BAE Systems is seeking a Receiving
Inspector to support at its Louisville, Kentucky site. In this
role, the Inspector performs in-process inspection and final
acceptance of highly complex components including vendor supplied
assemblies. Material is inspected for conformance to dimensional
requirements as well as physical characteristics - finish,
hardness, etc. A full range of materials are inspected including
raw materials, machined parts, castings/forgings, stampings, molded
products, fabricated parts, electrical/electronic components,
subassemblies, and assemblies. Inspections are performed using a
variety of standard and complex precision instruments and testing
devices and highly sophisticated equipment.Included duties:
- Analyzes documentation, such as drawings, military
specifications and standards, Quality Verification Plan (QVP),
Quality Assurance Procedures (QAP), Procurement Inspection Plans
(PIP), etc., to determine the level of inspection and the best
method of inspection and tooling required to perform the
inspection;
- Works with complex MIL SPECs;
- Analyzes quality related issues which may arise and provides
recommendations for solutions;
- Performs inspections using a variety of standard instruments
and testing devices and equipment;
- Communicates with various levels of personnel from Program
Managers, Machinists, Engineers, Management, external Customers
(e.g. ISEA and DCMA), etc;
- Works under the supervision of a Manager who gives minimal
instructions. Manager is available for consultation;
- Responsible for maintaining/improving housekeeping in their
work area and adhering to established safety rules and
practices.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Typically
requires a High School diploma and experience as follows:
- In-depth knowledge of receiving inspection processes.
- Skills and experience using and reading precision lay-outs and
measuring instruments.
- Mathematical skills to work with algebraic, geometric, and
trigonometric functions.
- Experience working with drawing dimensions in the inspection of
complex parts using GD&T.
- Must possess effective reading skills with the ability to
interpret multi-paged complex drawings.
- Ability and willingness to assist others in obtaining permanent
solutions to quality issue.
- Experience reading MIL SPECs, material specs, plating specs,
heat treat specs, etc.
- Must understand shop floor computerized time and attendance
system and independently execute assigned responsibilities.
Examples of those responsibilities are: clocking in and out upon
arrival and departure from work, close shop order sequences when
work is complete, etc.Note about Physical Demands: This position
will require long periods of standing, stooping, bending, reaching,
and climbing. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Cranes, hand
trucks, and other lifting and moving equipment are available for
heavier loads.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- 4+ years of experience in Quality/Receiving Inspection
- DOD experience
- GD&T in-depth knowledge
- Complex part set-up for measurement
- Data package review for multilevel processes
- General understanding of weld, plating, paint, NDT, material
spec etc.Pay InformationThis position is covered under a Collective
